Paint Tool (Lesson 5)
For this project we started with a file that was located in the CAD>GRAPHICS>GRAPHICS II>LESSONS>LESSON03 and then we opened it in adobe. In this lesson we learned how to make swatches, and use the paint bucket. After we added a shadow to the hat in the top right hand rectangle, lowered the transparency, and then sent it to the back. Then we learned how to saturate the top of the hat in the bottom left rectangle, and adjust the color without affecting the hues. Then with the selection tool you worked with the top right hat. Using a swatch you changed the ribbon color to a swatch of your choice, and then also made the background that color as well. Moving forward we worked with the shape behind the hat in the ltop left rectangle. We used a gradient of our choice as well. Lastly we used a pattern brush to make the leaves pattern in the bottom right corner. Then you change the scale in the text box to 75% and you have this as a finished product.
Transparency and Blending (Lesson 6)
To start this project you had to open the 06_end.ai file in lesson six folder. Then we adjusted the opacity to 90% The second wave was 80% and the the third wave was 70% Then we had to change the blending modes, and isolate them. You change the blending mode to multiply and it darkens the intersecting parts of the waves. Then group the shapes together. Then you have to check off the isolate blending checkbox in the transparency palette to be able to see the affect. Then you use a opacity mask, edit it, by using the rectangle tools, fills/stroke, opacity is lowered to 50% and then file and save and you have a finished product.
Working with Layers (Lesson 7)
To start this project you had to open a file that was under the lessons folder. CAD>GRAPHICS>GRAPHICS II>LESSONS>LESSON07>L07start.ai After opening the file in the G drive you should then start this lesson by creating a new layer and naming it “clock” The next layer that you created was the numbers in a text box and the thumbnail for each under the clock later to be in front of the last later and then dragged it into the number layer. You then create another new layer to move the face of the clock onto it and rename the layer as well. After this, you then must lock all the layers with the exception of the numbers sub layer and increase the size of the boldface clock numbers font. To achieve a gradient effect you edit the frame and then it will look as if it is 3-D. After you accomplish the previous steps you have a finished product.
Goldfish (Layers)
Making this goldfish we were given a template of a fish in the gray scale form. After we had to work in adobe with layers, and coloring in pieces that we drew in using the pencil tool. Making the scales you had to draw one, combine others with it in a cluster, make it a new symbol, and then you would spray it over the rest of the scales Before you print this fish out you then add a body color behind the scales to give the fish some kind of original signature scale pattern. Go back through the layers that you created for each part of the fish, and then "turn off" the group layer that has the original gray fish. Leaving you with the creations of the layers.
After you print, cut it out, and save. After you go back into the file and then mess around with the opacity of certain parts of the fish.

Portrait/Animal
Currently are project is to make a cartoon impression of a person of choice using adobe. You can achieve this process using a picture off of google that is NOT too small, and also should be a close up of their face as to do their portrait. You can open the layers window, and using the pen tool trace over their features and use the colors to make it look realitic unlike the goldfish project. Every point should have their own layer. Hair, eyes, chin, etc. It was my choice to leave her earrings out, for a personal preferences. They were these huge hoops, with multiple loops that I dont think the pencil tool/paint brush tool/symbol sprayer could do them justice.
With the animal portrait I did use illustrator differently. Instead of making each feature their own layer I made everything their own layer in sequence of the largest colors first. Same process as the portrait, using the pen/pencil/shapes/brushes as tools and te eye dropper tool to pick up the correct colors.
Wine tasting fundraiser
We were asked to make a poster for a wine tasting fundraiser for Holy Name School in Fall River. To make my poster I used photoshop, made a new doctument, 11x17. Then I used fonts from dafont.com and loaded them into photoshop for the text on the poster. Then from brusheezy.com I found wine glass brushes with some beer to put on my poster. The information was given to us to use on the poster. Then I modified the image before I printed it so it would print on one page.
